2019 ASTSS RESEARCH AWARD

In each year that ACOTS is held, the ASTSS offers research awards to encourage and reward academic excellence in traumatic stress research. The ASTSS Research Awards are designed to encourage relatively new researchers and are targeted at current postgraduate students and early career researchers. Awards offered in 2019

First Prize: AU$500.00 and one year’s ASTSS membership.
Second Prize: AU$250.00 and one year’s ASTSS membership.
Third Prize: AU$100.00 and one year’s ASTSS membership.

Who can apply?

Currently enrolled higher degree students or higher degree graduates who graduated from their highest degree within two years of the closing date.

Previous non-winning applicants are welcome to reapply, but previous winners are ineligible. Entrants may submit only one paper per round.

How to apply

Applications should take the form of a research paper in the study area of traumatic stress that follows the format of a professional journal of the applicant’s choice.  It should be of no more than 7500 words, including an abstract of no more than 250 words, references, tables, and figures. The paper may be already published, in preparation, or otherwise unpublished, but must be the work of the applicant.  A cover letter must accompany applications containing details as set out in the full terms.

Assessment of the applications

Entries will be assessed primarily on their contribution to research into psychological trauma, but also on originality, relevance, scholarship, methodology, style and presentation.

Winners will be notified by email prior to September 12th, 2019, and publicly announced during ACOTS 2019.
