In late March, the ASTSS Committee ventured to Melbourne as part of a combined symopsium on trauma. It was held at Melbourne University's Department of Psychiatry, hosted by Phoenix Australia, and welcomed ASTSS and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) to speak.
Despite the wet weather, it was a fantastic day. We listened to all the latest international research coming from across the world, especially in the USA. We were also invited to speak on some of the activities that ASTSS has been doing. We talked about our focus on integrating lived experience, diverse models of trauma in cilnical practice, and the importance of co-design in research. We also invited some of our former executive committee, Ruth Wraith and Bronwyn Tarrant, to take us through some of the history of ASTSS/ISTSS.
