Apple Macintosh Users
Some Apple Macintosh users have experience problems in submitting registration forms to the ASTSS. These problems stem from incorrect Preference Settings in the Internet Explorer program. To avoid these problems, Apple Macintosh users are advised to either:
a) Ensure the correct Preference Settings have been selected in their Internet Explorer program (see below for an example how to check these settings are correct)
b) Use another form of registration process (e.g., regular mail or fax)
 
How to Check the Internet Explorer Settings on my Mac
A problem has arisen in the email submission of registration forms from Apple Macintosh's using the Internet Explorer web browser. On Macs the user must specify what email account to use in the Internet Explorer Preference Settings. The following steps will guide you through the process of checking these settings are correct on your computer.
Step 1
  Open the Internet Explorer program on your Mac
 
Step 2
  Click on the "Preferences" item in the menu section called "Explorer". This will bring up the Internet Explorer Preferences window (see Step 3)

On the left handside of the Internet Explorer Preferences window, click on E-mail and then click on the General item. The current E-mail settings for the Internet Explorer browser will now be displayed on the right handside of the Internet Explorer Preferences window.

There are two sections that you enter information for: Personal Settings and Sending Mail.

 
Step 4 - Personal Settings
 

There are two items to fill in the Personal Settings section. Real name is the name you want displayed before your emails (e.g., Ben Stone<benstone@bigpond.com>). E-mail address is your email address (e.g., Ben Stone<benstone@bigpond.com>).

 
Step 5- Sending Mail
  The Sending Mail section contains the name of the Server that you want to handle your outgoing mail (mail you send). These mail servers are called SMTP hosts or outgoing mail servers.
To find out the name of your SMTP host, go to the website of the company that handles your E-mail (for example Bigpond, OzEmail, etc.) Using the search function on your Email company's webpage search for "SMTP" and this should lead you to a page containing the name of their SMTP host or outgoing mail server.
Examples of some SMTP host or outgoing mail server names are:
For Telstra Bigpond users: mail.bigpond.com
For regular OzEmail users: smtp.ozemail.com.au
 
Step 6- Click OK
 

Once you have entered the correct settings in both the Personal Settings and Sending Mail sections, all that is left to do is click on the OK button in the Internet Explorer Preferences window.
