ASTSS provides a forum for extending the understanding, prevention and treatment of major stress and trauma within the Australasian region.

ASTSS has established relationships with traumatic stress studies societies worldwide, including representation on the Executive of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS), and close reciprocal connections with:

• European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS)
• Japanese Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (JSTSS)
• Argentinian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (SAPsi)
• Canadian Psychological Association for Traumatic Stress Studies (CPASTSS)
• Asian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (AsianSTSS)

These relationships provide the basis for engagement with the world network of trauma practitioners and researchers.
